fokine and the firebird finale: possibly dance history's biggest "wtf?"



New Zealand National Orchestra rehearsing what may be the most beautiful 60 seconds of music ever written, the finale to Stravinsky's "The Firebird". What Fokine of the Ballet Russes wrote to this finale in 1912 (I think, maybe I'm a year off) is the most under-choreographed, anticlimactic nonsense imaginable. It would be the equivalent, were it a video in current day, of filming people unloading groceries into a minivan. See for yourself:
